The Role of Citrus As Constipation Relief

Citrus fruits generally work well as constipation relief. The citric acid they contain stimulates the intestines and other body organs particularly when taken right after waking up thereby promoting bowel movement.

Citric acid builds up your liver enzymes to boost its blood detoxifying capabilities. It also combines with calcium forming soluble chemical substances in the process. These substances can be effective cleansing agents that remove the plaques along your artery walls, kidney and pancreatic stones, and other calcium deposits in your body.

Lemon is one of the best sources of citric acid. It also contains vitamin C, potassium, bioflavonoids that also help detoxify your system. However, it is not advisable for people with arthritis, allergies, ulcer, and/or hyper-acidic.
